On Sunday, August 9th, 2026, Chip, Jennifer and I returned to play the Des Moines Waterworks Biergarten from 1-4pm. In an alternative universe, I think we would be named the Muggy Weather Trio. The temps creeped into the 90s and I suspect the humidity was at least in the 80% range. I may be overstating that, but by the end of the show, there was nothing on or around me that was even remotely dry.

It was a show. I’m appreciative to the great crowd that makes the Sunday trip to the Biergarten throughout the summer to hang and listen to Central Iowa’s musicians. We’ve played the Biergarten a few times over the last couple of summers and I’m pretty sure we’ve connected with new listeners each time.

To top it all off, a bit of cash was passed my way. I’m always excited about this, because it allows me to support my favorite organizations around Des Moines.

So, I moved my share of the take to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa. All shelters and rescues deserve our support. Recently, they’ve had a string of bringing in dogs and cats (and other animals) who have been witness to the worst of mankind’s cruelty. If I ever catch up with someone who’s mistreated a dog or a cat, God help them find a better side of my mercy. Until then, I’ll keep doing what I can to support the shelters and rescues.
